Canada and the Open-Ended Working Group on Reducing Space Threats
On February 10th, The Outer Space Institute organized a webinar on Canada and a new UN Open-Ended Working Group on “Reducing Space Threats through norms, rules and principles of responsible behaviours.” The event was moderated by David Kendall and presentations were made by Paul Meyer, Jessica West, Sarah Thiele, Aaron Boley and Michael Byers. Preliminary discussion on the 15 November 2021 Russian ASAT test
The OSI has released a short paper on the 15 November 2021 Russian ASAT test which includes the following figure showing the orbital trajectory of about 260 pieces of Kosmos-1408 debris. The paper was updated with a new plot on 7 December 2021.
